2006-06-02 - Jumping Spider

Maybe I was just having one of those days but not long after taking yesterday's photo of the Monarch Butterfly, I was again presented with a subject that came right up to me. I'm sure there aren't too many spider fans out there but I still quite like this photo. I used flash and am pleased with the way it turned out (mostly thanks to my D200, which now lets me use flash with much greater accuracy on this old macro lens).

Andreas I really like this picture! Beautiful vivid green, depth of field and frightening spider make a very good image.

Which flash do you use, 600 or 800?
Was it mounted or synchronized?
Which macro lens?

Very good work!!
Stephen Cameron Hey Andreas,
Glad you like it :-) This was taken using my ancient (27yr old) Vivitar 90mm F/2.8 1:1 macro lens. Being an old lens, it is completely manual focus but the D200 allows for metering (unlike the D70). I used my SB-800 flash and I can't quite remember but I think the flash was wirelessly triggered (held in my left hand).
