2005-03-07 - The Wonder of Colour
Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without colour? Imagine what we'd miss out on...
Today's photo is another one from the old 90mm Vivitar macro lens. Considering its age and condition, I've been pleasantly surprised by how well the photos have turned out in general.

Jason Excellent representation of color. However, the piece of white fuzz on the orange pencil is extremely distracting. It becomes the focal point of the image almost immediately. I find the composition a bit unbalanced as well. You start with a void, followed immediately by equal progression of steps right off the canvas. A bit of post processing would definately improve this shot. Just my two cents for what its worth. I hope you find it constructive. =)
Stephen Cameron Thanks for the excellent critique Jason! This is exactly the sort of feedback I'm after. I had somehow missed that bit of fuzz on the pencil but now that you point it out, it really is distracting.
Composition-wise, I wasn't sure about this shot in the first place so I'm glad you picked up on that. To be honest I still don't know what I will do with it to improve it - maybe even a reshoot is in order - but I will play with it. Thanks again for the excellent feedback!
