2005-09-13 - Remarkable Farewell

They say all good things must come to an end... I'd like to think they just come to a temporary stop. This was the case with our New Zealand adventure - time to return home to reality. I had a fantastic time and hopefully the last 50 photos have portrayed this. It definitely won't be my last trip to the land of the long white cloud.

If you hadn't guessed, this is Queenstown Airport, with surely one of the most spectacular backdrops in the world. The warm afternoon light was just catching The Remarkables as we walked out onto the runway to board our plane. I originally tried to take this photo from ground level to give a better perspective and get more of the sky and clouds in but an over-zealous member of the airport staff told me to put the camera away for security reasons. I understand the need for airport security but a little understanding would have been nice. I am still disappointed I didn't get the original shot I planned but fortunately when I got on the plane I was able to take this through the window. So much for that security.

Goodbye New Zealand, thanks for a great time!

PS: Happy Birthday, Alicia!
