2006-12-02 - Rural Fire Brigade

You might be getting a bit tired of the fire photos by now so I'll make this the second last one - I've got a bit of a different view for tomorrow's post. The reason I wanted to post this photo was because of the technical aspect: somehow I managed to get a relatively sharp shot at only 1/5s and 120mm (I had my 1.7x TC on the the lens so that was as wide as I could go with the 70-200). The usual rule-of-thumb is that the shutter speed needs to be at least the reciprocal of the focal length - ie. 1/180s when taking into account the digital crop factor. Another example of VR working its magic, along with a bit of luck... and I'd like to think maybe a little bit of skill ;-)
