I'm lucky to live in an area where there is good wildlife, very close by (in particular, kangaroos). I sometimes don't even need to leave home!
I really like this shot and I had a good feeling about it the moment I took it, even though lighting conditions weren't great. I was hoping to get some sort of close up shot of a kangaroo so when I saw this guy munching away in the long grass, I crept up as quietly as possible, camera at the ready. He heard me coming and popped his head up but fortunately I was close enough and ready to take the shot by this stage. I just love the expression on the kangaroo's face and the bit of grass sticking out the side of his mouth. It couldn't have been better if I'd asked him to pose!
Technically, this shot would've been better if it was a bit sharper / less noisy but it was the best I could do under the conditions and to be honest, I really don't mind. I'm just glad I was able to capture this moment as I did.
