One of the great things about photography is that it can introduce you to a whole range of people and experiences that you would otherwise miss out on. A camera can be a great conversation starter (as it was on this occasion). On the beach in Byron Bay, I was photographing this dog, when I looked up to see someone walking over to me. He introduced himself as Henry, the dog's owner. I talked to him for a while and he told me he didn't have any photos at all of his two year old dog. Of course, I was happy to oblige.
I'm really happy with the timing of this shot. I only got a couple of chances to catch the dog in the air so I think I did pretty well (read: lots of luck!). I also really like the eye contact between the owner and his dog. About the only thing I am not happy about is the background - I think it is too distracting and there is not enough separation from the main subject. Still, a very memorable shot :-)
