I thought I'd go for a different style today. This was taken at a birthday celebration for Bob Marley, the father of reggae music. Dreadlocks and good vibrations abounded.
At first I didn't think I'd be able to use this photo at all because it was so poorly exposed. The lighting conditions were terrible with just a single dull, red light bulb in the corner of the room and no option for flash (I was trying to be as unobtrusive as possible and I also didn't want to ruin the atmosphere). Even with my 50mm F/1.8 wide open and 1/15s at ISO 1600, this shot was still about a stop and a half underexposed. However, thanks to the magic of the RAW format and Nikon Editor, I was able to get this image.
I actually quite like the effect of the blur and grain. The framing could have been better if I hadn't chopped off part of his hand at the bottom but it doesn't bother me too much.
