2006-03-28 - Milford Dusk
Finally, Milford Sound! Despite all the spectacular scenery we'd already seen on the trip up to this point, I was impressed by the sheer scale of the mountains and the way they seem to rise out of nothing. A picture just can't do it justice...
This shot, which was taken at about 9pm, was quite a challenge technically because of the extremes of light and dark. I could have done with a graduated neutral density filter but lacking that, I had to rely on the power of a RAW capture. This is a single file that I have processed to extract as much dynamic range as I could. I still have a lot to learn about handling RAW files so I hope to be able to re-process this shot later to get a better result.
